Jess is doing well after her dental procedure on Wednesday.  Unfortunately she had to have 6 teeth removed due to the damage she had caused from her grinding :(  Five front teeth are gone so it takes some getting used to when she smiles.  I finally have confirmation from the specialist's receptionist that the last test results are back from Cape Town,  we are now just waiting for the him to call back to dicuss the results.

Still no word on the test that we are waiting for from Cape Town :(  The Doctor is following up on it so hopefully we will have some answers soon.  Jess is going into theatre again tomorrow morning for a dental procedure.  We are hoping that the anaethetist will be happy to do the procedure as Jess is battling with a wheezy chest at the moment...Holding Thumbs.

Spoke to the doctor again yesterday and apparently the blood test will take about another week in Cape Town!  We are away next week so will follow up with the doctor again when we are back.  We have also decided to go ahead with the Rhett Syndrome tests which should take about 4-6 weeks before we will get the results.  Jess is doing well and had her first appointment at the dentist today!  She will need to go under anaesthetic again in a few weeks for two fillings and an extraction :(  Shame poor babe

All but one of Jess's blood tests are back.  The doctor has advised that they are abnormal however we will discuss this in more detail with him once the final test is back from Cape Town.  He has advised that it should be back early this week.

Jess had her ABR Hearing Test done today.  Besides her being very upset as she couldn't eat or drink anything since 2:00 am and being very miserable after the anaesthetic, we were extremely happy to be told that there is nothing wrong with Jess's hearing!  The Audiologist would like a follow up visit in 3 years or so just to document the progress of her understanding and communication.

We feel very positive about Jess's appointment today at the specialist.  Shame, they took 9 viles of blood and are going to be running a series of tests. We will be going back next week for the results.  The Doctor has warned us that he will be taking more blood at our next appointment.  We are holding back on the Angelman and Rhett Syndrome Tests for now until he has completed the blood tests.  He also suggested that we do a follow up MRI Brain Scan and have her eye's tested as apparently many conditions can be identified by the deterioration of the retina.  We have therefore decided to use part of the funds received thus far towards any tests that need to be done now and any further specialist appointments that we need to take Jess to.  To see any updates on the funding received to date please refer to the Contact Details Page and Her Story page for a follow on to any blog updates.
Once again, we would just like to express our heartfelt gratitude for everyone's support and selfless generocity.

Words cannot explain how very grateful we are to be so blessed!  We have reached our target for the Rhett Syndrome tests.  We have already been in contact with the Geneticist.  Thank you to all who have made this possible!

The response that we've received since Jess's site went live on Sunday has been amazing.  People that we don't even know, taking the time to read Jess's story and relaying their thoughts, prayers, advise and where possible a donation.  Through the site, a mom to a little boy with similar difficulties to Jess contacted us and referred us to her son's specialist.  We have an appointment to see him next Wednesday.  He specialises in lysosomal disorders and has an extensive academic background.  We are feeling positive about the appointment.

We would just like to take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone who has responded to our plight so far.  We are truly touched by everyone who has taken the time to visit Jess's site, read her story and pass it on. We are overwhelmed by the funds that we have received already to help towards her next tests and sincerely thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

We went to meet the Audiologist this morning and Jess has been booked to go into theatre on 22 March.  They are going to be doing a procedure called ABR to determine if Jess has any hearing impairment.  This will aid the speech therapist to figure out if she is hard of hearing or having difficulty in understanding and interpreting sounds.
